AUGHHHH or AHHHH is an audio clip and sound effect of a person snoring intensely that became popularized in memes and videos as an original sound on TikTok in late 2023 throughout early 2023. The audio clip is often used without its original context for the sake of shitposting, making it hard to determine what the source of the sound is. In February 2023, it was notably combined with the Carmen Winstead audio. It is also often described as a goofy ahh sound on TikTok.
The exact origin of the sound is unclear. One hypothesis is that the sound is an edited snore taken from a February 6th, 2023 viral video, posted to Twitter, where a Chinese security guard allegedly fell asleep over a loudspeaker device, broadcasting his snores over Chongqing (shown below). Some believe this video is fake, with Redditor Leevotion commenting on a share of the video to /r/China, "Believed to be a fake video. The audio was a girl recording her boyfriend’s snoring inside a karaoke booth. Then added to this video." The source of the karaoke video is unknown.
